OUR IMPACT

SESF takes its impact on the youth we support seriously… it’s why the charity started and our reason for existence since 2012. Our partners value greatly this element of our work.

We produce an annual Impact Report detailing our activity for the year and measure the impact of our scholarships through The Hope Survey.

Impact Report 2024

2024 was another record-breaking one for the SESF as we continue to support talented young athletes across Australia. We are proud to have awarded 255 scholarships to emerging athletes, smashing our goal of 230, from a total of 1,700 applications. This doubling in demand reflects the expanding reach and reputation of SESF and highlights the pressing need for greater access to financial support in sport.

SESF remains dedicated to supporting accessibility and equity in sport for all Australians, including those from underrepresented communities.

In 2024, we awarded scholarships to 48 Indigenous athletes, 51 Para-athletes, 86 regional athletes, and 35 remote athletes. These figures underscore our commitment to building a diverse sporting community and empowering athletes who face additional financial and logistical barriers.

The Hope Survey

We measure the transformative impact of SESF scholarships on youth through The Hope Survey. Our scholarships have fostered life-changing benefits beyond sport.

The survey assesses hope, resilience, and life satisfaction

  • The survey is supported by The Phillips Foundation, Giving Connect, Resilient Youth Australia, and The University of Adelaide.

The Hope Survey uses the following two standards:

  1. Children’s Hope Scale
  2. Cantril Life Satisfaction Scale
