Thank you so much for offering me a scholarship towards the U18 Australian Basketball Championships, which were held in Ballarat, Victoria.

I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to represent my state, town, community and family.  It has been an honour to wear the maroon uniform for North Queensland and play with amazing talent from around the country. I have learnt so much, developed my skills and made lifelong friendships with players from all over Australia. I am proud to be able to be a positive young indigenous role model for the younger kids coming up.

I am from Cairns and with the Sports Excellence Scholarship Fund’s support I am a step closer to following my dreams of one day playing in Green and Gold for our Country. This scholarship has helped with the cost of the Nationals as well as the travel expenses with the training camps.

Thank you so much to everyone that is involved in making the SESF scholarships possible. It has been an opportunity of a lifetime.

Jaylen, SESF recipient

We thank the Sports Excellence Scholarship Fund for the assistance to get to the BMX Nationals held in Brisbane.

It was such a fantastic opportunity for Dakota to keep chasing her goals and represent her state against the best of Australia. Making the top 10 nationally we can’t wait to see her progression and hoping to make the next round of Nationals in a few months.

This has been such a tremendous stepping-stone for her in believing in herself and for girls in these sports that are now recognised.

Kasey, Dakota’s parent

Thank you to the SESF sponsors and committee for the financial support you have given us to help get my son Cameron to Nationals.

The Sports Excellence Scholarship Fund scholarship has taken much of the financial pressure off me and my family and for that I am very grateful.

Cameron attended the U16s Boys National Softball Championships and amazingly his team was successful in winning! Cameron is a National Champion!  NSW defeated QLD 10-1 in the final.

Cameron was starting 3rd base for his team and had a fantastic tournament hitting 2 over-the-fence home runs – 1 in the Grand Final.

Cameron has goals to continue improving his game and aim to play at the U19 World Championships in a couple of years. Without the SESF scholarship I could not have afforded all the costs.

Thank you again for supporting Cameron and our family.

Kellie, Cameron’s parent
